one learning point

Didn't publish so I seem to have lost the posting. What I typed out was that I am now sensitized to the need for Socialisation. I've tried using Discussion Board, Group Pages, Wikis and Blogs for lessons but I was immediately task-oriented.

I don't know about you, but one thing that has always made me shy of the socialisation side is that it looks abit cheesy. Like those executive awaydays where they chant, build bridges or do group games. It seems somehow not very academic!

It's not academic. But it's very necessary

tt sets me thinking! for sec sch to start this whole thing off- it'd be good that such socialisation be done at the beginning of their journeys with the sch- at sec 1, having as a module, with a real-life scenario. i'm sure they'r such natives ttt they'd get onto it v v v fast!

I've tried asking them to describe themselves as an object or an animal. This was probably a new way of looking at themselves. They seemed to like the activity. The response was encouraging.

we (teachers) are usually very focussed on the urgent (and important) things of delivering content and making sure our students are prepared for tests and exams. Socialisation is a very important (but perhaps not so urgent) goal of education.
